Dry Art

This is something totally different than what I usually post about - other than fashion or the latest seasonal trend, this caught my eye and wanted to share it with you. Every now and again I tap into art related news, it gives you a fresh new outlook and I believe Fashion and Art go hand in hand.

This fall Chelsea’s art district in NYC was swept away by Hurricane Sandy, galleries were flooded and destroyed.  Days after the destruction gallery interiors were forced to be thrown out, most galleries recovered with new fresh art, taking place the ones that were carnaged by the storm.  An American artist Scott Carter  repurposes gallery spaces and creates amazing 3D installation out of dry wall, this is not just an artistic way how to be resourceful it’s also his art form.

This crafty Chicago sculptor is known for using drywall and wood cut directly from the walls of galleries. His works of art is a cross between sculpture and installation. At only 28 years old he is already changing the course of art with contemporary architecture and design exhibiting full scale installations and interactive objects’. He literally turns an interior space upside down by adding playful and a quirky element to any room.

His latest work was shown at Beers Lambert Gallery in London, he will be exhibiting again sometime this year.
